This year ‘marks’ the 30th anniversary that R. L. Mark & Company Ltd has been operating in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. Started as an entrepreneurial start up in January 1986 by Richard Mark, it has over the course of the last three decades matured into a number of varied business expressions. Now the companies reach not only touches the region but also through its network of relationships impacts businesses and business people across the globe.
“We are humbled as a company to have journeyed this far for the last 30 years and I want to affirm how valuable our team has been to the process of getting us here. I celebrate and honour the loyal service that they engage in daily; it is this loyalty, service and sacrifice that has made our success sustainable over the past 30 Years. It is also part of the foundation that will stabilize and sustain our tomorrows!” stated Chairman and founder, Richard Mark.
Bearing the slogan “The Hallmark of Excellence” R.L. Mark & Company Ltd has been the premiere print and document management technology provider in the region for many years. Starting from humble beginnings selling equipment supplies the company evolved into hardware (photocopiers, facsimiles, electronic typewriters, computers, printers) and other related products and services. Today the company has gone beyond these core areas to create new partnerships and to deliver new Professional Services that include Managed Print Services (MPS) and Document Management Solutions (DMS). “These intelligent new services add significant value to our clients, making their business more competitive and profitable. They also redefine us as a company yet again and set us on a new journey” said, Richard Mark. As an industry leader they continue to pioneer new business solutions for their clients and are targeting the launch Managed Network Services (MNS) possibly before the end of 2016.
CEO Charmaine Waterman shared some thoughts on the anniversary… “Naturally turning thirty is one of those milestones where a number of critical things one hoped to have achieved in life is assessed. It’s a signaling of having gone through different stages, some difficult, but arriving at a place that is associated with maturity and a level of settlement. As we look back, for forward strength, we can see the impact of the journey not only on us corporately and individually, but also on our community, the market place and on a global level through our connections.”
She further indicated, “Even though there were different hands that built R.L. Mark & Co. Ltd. over time, and many of us have not been here for 30 years, we have all inherited everything that has been built. And that is special! That’s why when we were planning our 30th anniversary celebrations, the initial thoughts, like most, was to focus on our customers, and ultimately we will engage our customers but we decided that engaging our team members was primary and central to the entire occasion.”
Thus far for the anniversary year, the company has been “a buzz” with staff activity with: a staff anniversary slogan competition; the launch of the staff magazine newsletter, ‘RLM Engage’; a RLM team retreat; an epic cricket championship rematch and the running of the Fastest Man and Fastest Woman of R.L. Mark Races with a lot more in store for both staff and clients. So stay tuned to this space……
