All the members of staff of R.L. Mark & Co. Ltd. met some months ago for their annual Update Meeting for a time of refocusing and re-visioning on their Core identity and mission as a Flagship business in the Congress WBN (C-WBN) network. The intense, yet very collaborative morning session was facilitated by CEO, Charmaine Waterman; Chairman, Richard Mark and the featured speaker, Global Director of the Congress Corporate Sector of C-WBN, Ernest King. The RLM team members gained much insight into the internal postures required to live, be and produce the culture of excellence that is R.L. Mark & Company. Not a ‘normal’ staff business meeting by any stretch, Mr. King, who flew in from Trinidad & Tobago, engaged the RLM team in rich discussion and interaction around personal responsibility and accountability to uphold the standards in which they share and profess.
After which, they took to the Beach! The RLM staff assembled in three teams clad in their spanking newly designed, colour-coded high performance corporate polo shirts and took to the beach for the much rivaled and anticipated RLM Beach Olympics. The boasts, threats and promises that filled the RLM offices over the last 3 weeks all came down to this one moment…..LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!
Burgundy, Green and Blue were the respective colours of teams Synchronize; Synergize and Succeed as the readied themselves in a group warm up session amidst the competitively tense but fun atmosphere. Then they were off, commencing with a best of three round robin of an interesting twist on the game of volleyball which set the tone for other unconventional events to follow. See video link below to join in on the action. In the end Team Synergize emerged the clear winner followed by Team Succeed and Team Synchronize.
The winning captain Julian Grant was recorded as saying, “The Lean Mean Green Machine epitomized the very essence of the core RLM theme, The Hallmark of Excellence, as well as the embodiment of one of the company’s core tenets… collaboration and team work. While other “teams” had their stars, our TEAM was a collective Star, and so we were able to defy the odds and come out victorious.”
So Team Synergize has bragging rights till next year’s event and rumor has it the other teams have imported some players and are already in training.
