The Barbados Small Business Association (SBA) recently concluded its 2018 week of activities under the theme The Role of SMEs in Building Sustainable Economies. R.L. Mark & Company Ltd. was pleased to be a Contributor to this year’s program. In the spirit of innovation, the RLM team tasked themselves with adding to the SBA week in a significant way. This resulted in the development of a new prize component in recognition of excellence and entrepreneurship, namely the R.L. Mark 2018 Excellence in Entrepreneurship Prize.
The naming of the award was consistent with R.L. Mark & Co. Ltd.’s slogan: The Hallmark of Excellence. “Our focus on excellence along with our other two core values of Integrity and Service have guided our development over the past 33 years. We recognize that a key component of our sustainable success has been a primary focus on our human development. It is therefore from this platform that we decided to push outside the borders of our own walls, to partner with the SBA in supporting and encouraging small business entrepreneurial development and excellence”, Chairman Richard Mark remarked as he presented the award.
R.L. Mark & Co. Ltd. itself is no stranger to awards themselves, as it holds the 1998 Ernest & Young Entrepreneur of The Year Award for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. It was a personal pleasure and gesture of giving back for Richard Mark to present the R.L. Mark Excellence in Entrepreneurship Prize to Micheal Hinds, Director of the winning company of the 2018 SBA Small Business of The Year, Terasu Inc. “I encourage the leaders and staff of Terasu Inc. to continue their pursuit of excellence placing focus on the development of their people to better serve the unique needs of your customers”, he stated.
This inaugural prize included the RLM Spirit of Excellence Trophy and a cash award of $1,500.00. It was also a gratifying moment as Mr. Mark further indicated that the very exquisite trophy was designed and created by the Marketing Manager of R.L. Mark & Co., Jason Hope, who also is an award-winning artist and sculptor.
Congratulations and all the best to the Terasu Team!
